Wonderland is a horror parkour roguelike where every run is a race against Wonder's timer. If you are new to the game, the single most important thing to understand is the loop: collect Lumins, feed Zippy, find the exit, and escape before Wonder turns Evil. This Wonderland beginner guide covers your starting items, how to play safe, and how to survive your first runs.
Understand the Timer Before Anything Else

A Health Pad tracks your lives, health, and a countdown timer for every run. The timer is not decoration — when it runs out, Wonder transforms into his Evil (Times Up) form: a giant monster with multiple realistic eyes and bloodied teeth that hunts down the nearest player. In this state he can kill you even if you still have lives remaining.
The escape hatch is Wonder's Top Hat, located just outside the Shop. When the timer gets low, your priority is to reach the Top Hat and escape, not to keep collecting.

Your Starting Items
You never enter a run empty-handed. Every player spawns with four default items:
- Wonderlites — your light source, essential for navigating dark segments.
- HealthBox — healing support that can keep you alive through mistakes.
- Backpack — expands your carrying capacity, so you can haul more Lumins and items per run.
- WonderDoodle — your utility tool for interacting with the environment.
These four cover the basics. Everything else is bought with Tickets from Wonder's Shop or earned through other means.
How to Collect Lumins

Lumins are small creatures that run around the map and are the heart of every run. Your job is to gather them and bring them to Zippy. A few notes:
- Lumins scatter and move, so chase them actively rather than waiting for them to come to you.
- Red Lumins are Zippy's favorite. They matter more than the others.
- Plan a route: grab Lumins on the way to Zippy instead of running back and forth across the map.
You only need four Lumins per escape call, so prioritize speed over hoarding.
How to Use Zippy
Zippy is the one friendly face in Wonderland — a green, backpack-shaped creature who loves Lumins (his catchphrase is "Hello! My name is Zippy! and I love luminies!").
When you hand Zippy four Lumins, he runs to the exit and reveals its location to all players on his Etch A Sketch-style map. He then returns to his spot. Crucially, this does not consume the Lumins, so you can keep reusing the same route to guide your whole party.
In co-op, only one player needs to make the delivery — the exit reveal benefits everyone on the team.
Movement and the Chase Segments
Wonderland is built around parkour, and chase sequences are frequent. Two mechanics matter most:
- Wall-run — use it to keep momentum through obstacle chains and to escape pursuing enemies.
- Reading segments fast — because runs are randomized, you cannot memorize a route. Learn to spot the intended path quickly and commit to it.
During chases, do not stop to fight. Most enemies cannot be defeated by normal means — your goal is to outrun them to the next checkpoint or the exit.
Spending Your First Tickets
After a few runs you will have Tickets to spend at Wonder's Shop. For beginners, prioritize:
- Healing and defense items to offset early mistakes.
- The Toy Hammer once you encounter tougher enemies — it can damage certain threats in a few hits.
- The Wander Mask when your team struggles to find Lumins, as its description hints it lets you see all of them.
- The minigun if you are heading toward the special levels, since it is the reliable way to damage boss-type enemies.
What Not to Do Early On
Three common beginner mistakes cost runs:
- Ignoring the timer while collecting — Wonder's Evil form ends the run regardless of lives.
- Splitting too far from your team — a party that reveals the exit together escapes together.
- Trying to fight chasers — in Levels Mode, running is always the answer; fighting is reserved for the special levels and the final boss.
